How to Create a Survey Using Google Forms

One of the best ways to find out how you can best serve your audience is to ask them! While there are endless creative ways to get people to tell you what they need, a survey drills down to the details and returns the data to you in an organized way. By creating surveys you can directly ask your social media following the type of content that they would find the most helpful, then you can use their survey responses to create your online content. You can also use surveys for many other aspects of your business where you need to collect information from people like contact forms and questionnaires.

Google Forms makes it super easy to create and share surveys.  Here’s a quick tutorial of how to do it!

Go to this website and log in or create an account.

Once you’re logged in, you will be taken to a screen that looks like this:

To create a new form, select the blank form.

Name your form.

Create your first question by clicking on the plus sign.

You can choose whether the responses can be short answer, multiple choice, etc by clicking on the drop down to the right of the question.

Once you select what your question format will be, you can customize your responses. You can change the format on a question per question basis. So your first question can be short answer, the next can be multiple choice, etc. It’s up to you!

Using the drop down to the right of the form, you can add a new question, an image, a video or a completely new section.

You can reorder your questions by clicking in the container that you want to move and dragging and dropping to a new spot.

Using the 3 icons in the top left of the page, you can change the color of the form, preview the form and change the settings.

When you’re ready to share your form click on SEND in the top right corner. A screen will pop up that looks like this:

You can choose to email, link or embed your form by clicking on one of the three icons.
Once your responses start coming in, you can download them as a spreadsheet to keep them organized.

Just click on the RESPONSES tab. Then use the green icon to download your responses.

Creating surveys using Google Forms is really simple. Whether you use them to create social media content, onboard new clients or something else, it’s an excellent tool to help streamline and grow your business!
